This section is for the deviations that mean the most to me. All for different reasons but all so...critical.
Gift: You + Me really started it all. This was the first step towards experiencing this amazing literary journal and I wouldn't be who I am today if it wasn't my grandmother, Kelsy, or poetry. One of my favorite pieces if not my absolute favorite.
Girls is a piece about the stereotypes that some ladies have to deal with and how I feel they can be whatever they want to be. It's simple, straight-forward, but people seemed to really like this. And I do too.
Lead In Tresses is a romantic piece that I felt I really showcased my versatility as a writer. Going from rhyme, free verse, rhyme again, all the while maintaining a good pace and imagery. I still go back to read it occasionally and I smile every time I do.
Forevermore is one of my best six word stories in my opinion, by far. And one of those six word stories that got the most attention from others. I love it and I hope you do as well. I hope it speaks to you.
Aggrandizement is yet another six word story that I'm quite proud of due to the oxymoron of it. It lends itself to multiple interpretations and it's one of my more creative stories when it comes to these micro-poems.
Welcome To The Internet is a bit of a social commentary slash narrative. I'm proud of it because I know we, as internet users can all relate to this in one way or another.
Blemished Memories, Disappearing Stars is just one of those pieces where I put all of my emotions down and it became something way better than I had expected. Imagery wise? It's one of my greatest works.
Chrysanthemum, oh, where do I begin with this piece? I don't know where so I'll leave it here: It's my first Daily Deviation.
My Grandmother is a birthday present for the woman who started it all. She is the angelic catalyst to my poetic journey and I will forever be indebted to my wonderful, wonderful grandmother. I love you to death, Grandbomb.
Sole System is a poem made up of 3 haikus. It is contrarian poetry and it's something I'm so proud of because...well, just read it for yourself.
Sanguine Spills/Greying Blue is the piece where it marked an obvious transition away from my straight-forward poetry to a more vivid, metaphorical way of writing and I think I've continued along this path ever since.
she's a 49er is for my sister. Taylor, I love you so much. More than you'll truly every know. But know this; I will always look after you as your big bro'. We're southern 49ers. Together.
Bite Your Tongue Till It Bleeds is just a really, really good of piece of mine in my opinion. It actually incorporates another concept I had and I'm so proud of this. People really seemed to gravitate towards it as well.
Pure Love (Reasons Why) is my most personal piece as to why I am the way I am. And why I love the way I do. Please, if nothing else, read this piece.
Here are the places where I have been featured and interviewed. These kinds of moments are true honors for me. Humbling experiences that show me I'm capable of doing some pretty great things as a person and a creative thinker. Please, if you want to learn more about me through other people, check out these features and interviews:
First off, a big note to remember, everyone: A deviant can only be featured once every month!
My Guidelines: Please only send me your suggestions via note. (Subject note heading should read: DLR Suggestion or something similar.) Do not send your suggestion to another admin. (If you send me a suggestion, do not resend it to another DLR Admin.) Within your suggestion, please add a small blurb (One or two sentences) as to why you believe it should be featured! Two (2) suggestions maximum per note, please. Self-suggestions are more than welcomed! (There's absolutely nothing wrong with self confidence!) I accept any form of poetry or prose. I also accept any genre as well.
Personally, I don't have too many poetic or prose preferences. Good literature comes in all forms and I want to see everything you guys have to offer. However, I suppose if a gun were put to my head and I had to answer this question; I favor wordplay, imagery and a lot of emotion. Things like that really excite me. But my biggest preference is to simply not be afraid to suggest literature. It's good for the entire lit community and I want people to be active and send in their favorite literature!
And here are ALL of our DLR admins (and their suggestion guidelines) that feature and recognize wonderful literature as well: Poetry Admins: Medoriko's Guidelines. ssensory's Guidelines. UnspecifiedUnknown's Guidelines can be found on profile. TheTerrorOfTheDeep's Guidelines can be found on profile. [ON LEAVE]
My name is Ricky Alaniz otherwise known as the boy with the chrome antenna(e)s on his head and I love writing. I write because of love and love because I write. I've told this story a million times but I shall tell it again.
My literary journey began with my grandmother about a week before my 16th birthday in October of 2012. She inspired me to write in the first place and it is one of the greatest things I've ever done. One of the greatest things I believe anyone could do. I wrote my first poem for one of my closest friends and that reaction I received from her inspired me to continue writing.
I eventually got up the courage to post my first poem here on deviantART and after that? No one could stop me from writing and posting this art the sits on my mind and rests on my tongue.
