Smile For Me

“Okay, okay, let me get a shot of you!”

I then take my camera and put it to my eye

And then I see the image of pure happiness,

Flowing hair, sparkling eyes, and a perfect smile,

I bring the camera back down to really take in your beauty,

And you ask me, “What’s wrong? Do I look alright?”

I chuckle and say, “You look absolutely amazing; near-perfection.”

You wave me off in disbelief, but that’s how you really look in my mind,

I now bring the camera back to up towards my face,

And prepare myself to snap a shot of the apple of my eye,

The familiar “click” of the camera goes off and now I can really look at you,

In the photo, your hair is covering a little bit of your face, but it doesn’t falter your smile,

The sun is kissing your skin perfectly and your eyes are shining,

And looking at this image of perfection, I can’t hide this own smile of mine,

You come walking towards me curiously,

“Did the photo turn out alright?”

I smile and say, “It turned out perfectly. Can I take another photo of you?”

You giggle and say playfully, “That’s fine! But you know we can’t be here all night,”

I look up towards the setting sun and say, “Ahh, we’ll be okay.”

I kiss your forehead and show you where I want you to stand this time,

And as we’re getting ready to snap another photo I think to myself,

“She’s too beautiful. I’m so glad this girl is mine……”

I wanted to write a romantic poem, but also play with a different rhyme scheme. :aww: I hope you guys enjoy this piece. :)

One of these days I'll experience this.

Inspiration from the almighty track "You Are Too Beautiful," by the legendary Thelonious Monk. Here's the link to that masterpiece: [link]
