The Key

The key to life is to see everything with open eyes

Love with a love that is open-hearted

And view everything with an open mind

This is the goal for me now; my vision is long term

Never again will it be short-sighted

This isn’t to say I won’t live for the moment

But rather be aware of the moment’s actions down the line

For a minute, I’ll slow down and take in my blessings

Instead of always wondering about the next

Rather than focusing on the result, the end, my death

I’ll focus on living my life, the parts of a whole, the process

The key for me is to always have a goal in mind

Then I have something to aspire to

To work for, mold, create, or find

I noticed that I’m too result-oriented

I never realized I didn’t have a true process to accompany my ambitions

But now when I say I’m one step closer to my goal, you know I meant it

It was time to self-reflect and look at myself, deep within

Now I finally see the problem………and the solution

Now it’s up to me choose which door I’m going to open…….

This my submission for my friend and I's group, #Dreamers-Welcome's monthly challenge. And this month's theme were keys so I used the cliche "key to life" topic. :XD: It's a shorter poem, but I like it. It's simple, it's to the point, and I feel as though it flowed pretty nicely. :) I hope you guys like this. And please, don't hesitate to let me know what you think. Whether it's good or bad, all comments are accepted. 'Specially constructive criticism. :D

Although you start of with some rather cliché ideas, I was really impressed how you lay out this idea that seems to contradict itself first: having a long term vision while concentrating on the here and now, the process rather then the end result. I also feel this gives us a very strong insight into your thoughts (assuming your thoughts are identical with the ones of the lyrical I here).
