Twelve

The number 12 is a holy number, it’s a dozen, and it signifies the end of a year

And to me it relates to last year; and how the year of 2012 was full of many highs and lows;

It was during this time, the early months of spring where flowers began to blossom and appear

And in that sense, I could use that metaphor to represent two special friendships that began to grow

Both of these two wonderful young ladies mean an incredibly great deal to me;

Ashley is a tad younger than me, while Kelsy is just over a year older

And when I first met Ash’, our connection was immediate despite it being something a little silly,

But since our first connection was through Sonic, I wasn’t expecting her to soon feel like my sister

However when I really began to learn about her, I saw that this girl was unlike most

She was brimming with positivity and an optimism that was probably even greater than my own

And I admire the fact that even when things get rough she still finds the silver lining in a dark abode

She is represents a different part of my personality, the goodness, amusing, and innocent side of me

And then there’s my older sister, the friend who’s seen every side of me, Kelsy

She’s been my rock, one of the few constants in my life and my greatest confidant

To me, she represents a tranquility, the maturity and the fighter in me,

‘Cause we’ve been through so many different experiences and together we’ve fought

Different people and tough circumstances; this is why I admire your passionate and fiery personality

Because of you I feel I’ve gotten stronger too, even altered certain processes of thought

So as the year of these very special friendships arrives, I know in my heart we’ll never end

Because unlike most, you girls have shown me the loyalty, trust and companionship I’ve always wanted

And I’m excited to see what the future holds for us 3; Kelsy and Ashley, thank you so much for being my friend
