Burning Venus

The winds are unpredictable,

Yet mesh together to create visionary windstorms,

It flows through crevices and scatters,

Leaves of memories that fall from the stems of our trees.

But somehow, these winds all go in the same direction,

And once it has passed,

The impact left is subtle.

A fading shot of adrenaline that resides in veins,

And flows through fingertips.

We reach the apex through our artistic atmosphere,

But it doesn’t always get to the audience,

The tone of poetic scenes uncovered hover in air,

Not reaching the ground, but still leaves the world thinking.

Bottle up the air and it rattles around the entrapment,

Not being able to escape if it is an air-tight contraption.

Yet the fire chars this casing.

Combine the fury of the undying flames,

With the unpredictable air that hovers above,

Can create a wildfire of an uninhibited formation.

This genesis of this wild conflagration,

Is a combination of fire with the passion of a phoenix,

And sustained by its own wind system, the aura of Venus.

When these two elements meet,

The chemistry is undeniable,

As the cool collides with the heat,

The vision ethereal, but the impact so blistering.

Inspired by a conversation I had with the amazin' *WeirdAndLovely. We were discussing poetry collaborations and I started on the topic of contrasting styles. I personally found that, over time my style has become more ethereal (In my estimations, at least), and I've found that our chemistry just comes across the best, to me. Since our styles contrast SO well, it creates two opposite spectrums for the reader.

Other collaborations in the past, have been really smooth and maybe too smooth to hold the reader's attention. I find that her more concrete, emotional, and impactful poetry meshes better with my sometimes detached, airy writing. Not to say I didn't love old collaborations, but I find now my writing is become more and more "left field," and a lot of abstractness in poetry can leave the reader really thinking, but not necessarily leaving an immediate impact.
