The Cycle

Here I am again, aching. My heart pounds to my ribs, my lungs squeezing, my chest tightening, hoarding my tears. When I couldn't take it anymore, I'll run back to your safety (cause I don't feel safe with me); a safe haven that I know wouldn't last - a comfort and joy that's temporary. Y'know, when I was......10 years old, my mom gave me some really incredible advice. She told me, "Ricky, you know, if you ever have to fight men for a girl, then it isn't worth it." At first, I didn't understand it 'cause if you really loved someone wouldn't you fight for them? And I asked her that and she simply says, "That's the whole point. Love is a two person game. Not 3, 4, or 5. Believe me, I know."

I just smiled and that advice has stuck with me ever since. And honestly, it applies to a lot of different things to. If you're gonna fight for someone, they have to be willing to fight for you, too.
